We went to Pinion, Arizona today. It was a long trip, more like a long day. I mega'd out on Mutton today. There's a lady she sells YUMMY roast mutton on tortilla, with green chili. O yahhh.. My partners.. they're not so into it. That's ok.
I read a book a long time ago about the "Long Walk" of the Navajo's and I read about where a young lady fought with one of the spainards army, and she took him down the cliff with her. I was like ~ahem back then ~YOU GO GIRL!! THAT'S MY GIRL!!~
So now every time we come to this overlook, I salute her. I give her my silence and blessings. I don't remember what book it was, I had lent it out and never got it back. Unfortunate.
Imagine that, falling to your death after fighting for your land. Not alone, but take the bastard that thought he could get you to surrender to hunger, rape, and slavery.

The rock below looks like a turd to me.. always had.. isn't that funny? I would sit there and think it's crazy looking when I use to herd up in the mountains. It's hard to ignore, it sits like that in plain view. When I was in the mountains, o I loved it. To this day when we cross over the pass, I roll the windows down and take in the scent.. I just go back in time of my freedom, no worries, running up and down... pretending to be who I wasn't.. it didn't matter.. it was just me and the nature. And they forgive me for my nutty behavior.
From the Top of the Mountain. You can see Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and remainder of Arizona. Four Corners. Back in my childhood the road wasn't paved, so big boulders would stick out, a lot of ruts, and it was 'fun' for me, but heck for my parents to drive over the pass. I'd stand in the back of the truck and enjoy the bumpiness. Anyway, this site was a BREAK TIME, and my dad would get out and walk around for a bit. But I think it was because his back was hurting. Back in the early 70's he fell of a cliff at work in Utah.. and he broke his back in few places..
Coming back, this is one of my favorite points on the mountain. After this you hit the spring, and the water is delicious. Sweet.
I'm so tired right now.. If I forgot something, I'll write it in the next go 'round. Good night.
