Our trip to Springs was nice, like it should. We zipped zipped everywhere.. We were carefree on a mission. We sang songs and talked about everything there is to talk about with a five year old. He told stories, and they're funny. I told him stories, and he laughed. Sometimes he stopped me to ask me what they meant. We didn't have to stop anywhere, Grandpa had already bought us snacks and made sure we were full before we left. Even gas, we didn't have to stop anywhere, but we did anyway to take a break.
From here to the pass was good, and the roads were decent. It was actually warm out until we got deep into the mountains. We rolled up the windows and when it got to warm out, Grandson fell asleep.
After checking in, grabbing the paper for ads and looking online.. we visited with real estate lady.. the homes were not what we wanted. The yards were too small for the dogs, or had no access to the garage.. Okay, they just didn't suit us. We saw a potential farm, but that was a fixer upper.. but it sat on five acres it would be great for the animals. Thankfully had GPS to get us around.
Our meals were all fast food. I told Grandpuppy I wanted to eat at a real restuarant.. but I had to reward him for being a champ.. so I (we) ate at McDonald's mostly. UCK!!!
The next day, it was snowing!! I was so not prepared for it to fall like that... Even Grandsom said they were like bullets. We went shopping for Grandpa and everyone at home.. a small gift.. All was fine until we hit the first pass home.. I think I down shifted, or something.. we fish tailed.. I was like Whooa.. I got the car back on the road, and it went spinning the other way.. I got it back on the road.. Then finally one more spin, and it stopped facing the opposite direction. About a couple seconds later the GPS said "Turn around."
We stopped at the nearest town and tried to get tire chains, but they didn't have it. The most crazy excuse I heard was.. I never had to use snow chains.. They were not in stock yet. WE went to three different Auto shops.. they didn't have it.
I called hubby and told him we were going to try the last pass and see if we can make it. And nope, we didn't make it. We probably only had five more miles to go and didn't make it. The car started spinning its tires and we were still rolling backwards.. We just turned around and went back into town.
I called hubby again and told him what happened.. he said he would come for us first thing in the morning. We checked in and it was a two bedroom motel. I had one room, and Grandson in the other room. We kept the door open so he could mosey around. The motel has a cafe, too. We had dinner and went back to our room. Since the phone line was bad, we conversed thru online.
The next day the snow grew about a foot.. we drove to meet Grandpa a few towns over. I was so relieved to see him.. We ate, and headed for home. Along the way he took care of his job. I was impressed.
Just about an hour ago, I got some bad news again.. I am trying to deal with it. Drama. More Drama.. Some things I am having a hard time trying to comprehend how things like that happened. It shouldn't!
